On the undercard of last weekend's "It's Showtime" card in Prague, headlined by Badr Hari vs. Mourad Bouzidi, Sengoku FWGP veteran and Korean Top Team member Chan Sung Jung was not given much chance in his match, taking on Lumpinee Stadium Champion and Thai fighting legend Pajonsuk.

Throughout the first round of the fight, Pajonsuk tried to overwhelm Jung with his powerful high kicks, and had the fight in hand until a short spinning backfist from Jung caught him flush on the chin as he bounced off the ropes.

Unfortunately for Jung, the spinning backfist, a legal technique in K-1 competition, is not allowed under the It's Showtime ruleset. Pajonsuk, unable to continue in the fight, was handed the disqualification victory.

great video but you should change the title, it spoils it...also its not a kickboxer, its a muay thai fighter. The title should something like Great k-1 Showtime fight or some shit...

anyway, the video and the explanation are good haha, thanks

You're right. The dude that got knocked out probably didn't train for spinning back fists since he was following the rules.

There needs to be more standardization in ruling between different organizations. It's really hard to untrain a habit that is legal in most organizations but happens to be banned in others. Fighters shouldn't have to go through that.

+2
rules are rules
I bet he wouldn't be caught that way if the rules accepted back-spinning fist.

stupid rules are rules too.
the guy hit him with a standing strike in a kickboxing match.
this was awful.
this is bad on the level of anderson/okami and jones/hamil.
yeah rules are rules, but for god's sake fix the fucking rules you asshole rule guys.
how are spinning backfist's not allowed in a match with muay thai?
how are downward elbows illegal in the ufc?
how was anderson's kick, one of the most beautiful strikes i have ever seen, an auto loss?
rules like these need to be examined and changed or have clauses.

This ''Showtime'' in Holland is the event with the most confusing rules ever!
If you take a look at some old bouts, the story is the same: two fighters confused and annoyed, because in clinch is not permitted (i guess)2 knees in a row. Spinning backfirst not allowed and some other confusing shit.
... not even mentioning the judge... how awful!!

That is a terrible rule. That's almost like saying a superman punch is illegal :/
K-1 rules should be standard for all forms of kickboxing and muay thai.

Having said that, Pajonsuk actually looked quite good before the KO

Pajonsuk deserved the victory, not only cuz the other guy hit with an illegal technique, but because he is clearly a better fighter than the korean guy
